A Nigerian man, Ademola Micheal Oyewole, has reportedly murdered his girlfriend, Habibatu Aruwa Favour, in cold blood at his residence in Edjeba Community, Warri South LGA of Delta state. This incident was confirmed by the state police on Wednesday, June 23, 2026.
The victim, Habibatu, is a 500-level law student at the University of Port Harcourt. She was a frequent visitor to the suspectās residence and was last seen in the community on Monday, June 22, buying food items, reportedly for a meal they planned to share. According to reports, the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, June 23, when the landlord reportedly heard screams coming from the apartment and called security operatives. Additionally, friends of the deceased claimed that she had called them in panic, saying her boyfriend was harming her. But when they called him, he alleged she was not with him.
When the Police arrived and searched the crime scene, the victim’s lifeless body was found in a pool of blood discovered in the suspectās apartment. Her body showed signs of severe injuries, with her neck reportedly slashed. Her corpse was subsequently evacuated and deposited in a mortuary, while the suspect was arrested and taken into custody for questioning.
Confirming the incident, Bright Edafe, the spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, stated that investigations were ongoing for the case.
āIt is confirmed. As for the claim that he is involved in internet fraud, I am not aware of that,ā Edafe said.
