The Feminist Forum of the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) kicked off June 27 to June 28, 2025, at Hotel Giralda Center in Seville, Spain.
The Forum, a civil society-led gathering, will convene feminist movements, gender justice advocates, and grassroots organisations from around the world to challenge global financial systems and propose feminist economic alternatives rooted in care, justice, and equality.
With the aim of creating a new economic system grounded in human rights and lived realities, the Feminist Forum serves as a vibrant space for intergenerational dialogue and transformative policymaking.
The Forum’s agenda focuses on exposing the patriarchal, colonial, and neoliberal structures embedded in global finance, while demanding gender-responsive financing, racial and economic justice, and inclusive development systems that center the voices of women, girls, and marginalised communities.
Organisations like Girls Not Brides will join other global and local groups in advancing feminist priorities within the broader FfD4 process. These include calls to reform the international financial architecture and ensure funding for grassroots and community-led solutions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The event will precede the Civil Society Forum and the main FfD4 Conference, scheduled for June 30 to July 3 at the FIBES Sevilla Exhibition and Conference Centre.
The official FfD4 programme will include high-level plenaries and six multi-stakeholder roundtables co-chaired by Heads of State and Government, focusing on urgent issues in development finance. Side events like the International Business Forum and the Sevilla Platform for Action will also take place to foster collaboration across sectors.
The Feminist Forum stands as a powerful reminder that economic reform must confront injustice, dismantle inequality, and center the lived experiences of women affected by broken systems.
