She died on October 24, 2025, at the Mayriamville Medical Centre, Bode Thomas, Surulere, after undergoing surgery. The Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed her passing, describing it as a huge and painful loss.
“The command mourns the loss of a truly upright and dedicated officer who served with unwavering professionalism and integrity,” Abimbola said.

In 2021, she was decorated with the rank of Superintendent of Police by former Commissioner, CP Hakeem Odumosu, at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja.
Her career also extended internationally when she served with the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) as a Public Information Officer. Matilda also headed the Public Complaints Bureau (PCB) in Lagos, where she handled citizens’ petitions with fairness and empathy.
Through her years of service, she attended several professional courses, including the Advanced Detective Course (ADC) and the Human Rights Protection Course, both locally and abroad.
