In a twist of injustice, the Federal Government of Nigeria has sued Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan over alleged defamatory remarks made on live television on April 3, 2025, during the Politics Today programme on Channels Television.
Recalled that Natasha was suspended for six months following her seating altercation on March 6, 2025. However, she filed a lawsuit against the Senate President and petitioned the Senate over her unjust suspension.
FG cited Section 391 of the penal code, CAP 89, laws of the federation, 1990 and accused Natasha of “Making amputation knowing or having reason to believe that such amputation will harm the reputation of a person.” The offence is punishable under Section 392 of the same law.
Among the charges is the allegation that Natasha accused the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello of plotting to assassinate her.
The lawsuit’s list of witnesses includes Senate President Godswill Akpabio and the immediate past governor of Kogi state, Hahaha Bello, May IIiya, an investigative police officer.
