Summary
In a newly leaked medical report, it has been confirmed that Imane Khelif is male with no uterus but XY Chromosomes, testicles and micropenis.
Algerian boxer Imane Khelif‘s gold medal win at the Paris Olympics has come under scrutiny following the leak of a medical report revealing that Khelif possesses testicles. This report was exposed on Nov. 4, 2024, months after Imane faced intense backlash online for contesting in the women’s category.
This report, obtained by French Journalist Djaffar Ait Aoudia, was created by endocrinologists at the Kremlin-Bicêtre Hospital in Paris and the Mohamed Lamine Debaghine Hospital in Algiers. The report reveals that Imane has 5-alpha reductase deficiency, which affects sexual development typically found in biological males.
The examination found that Imane does not have a uterus but has internal testicles and a very small penis. Genetic tests showed that Imane has XY chromosomes, which are typically male. The hormone levels also matched those of males.
This report confirms the admission of Imane’s coach, Georges Cazorla, in an interview in August 2024, where he mentioned that Imane had undergone an assessment at the Kremlin-Bicêtre Hospital after Imane was disqualified from women’s boxing by the International Boxing Association (IBA) in March 2023. He acknowledged that the endocrinologists had determined a “problem with Imane’s Chromosomes” at the time.
However, despite this, Cazorla had insisted that Imane competes against women even though the International Boxing Association (IBA) also confirmed that Khelif had failed multiple chromosomal tests.
Marshi Smith, co-founder of the Independent Council on Women’s Sport (ICONS), while speaking to Reddux, condemned the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Algerian Olympic Committee for allowing Imane to compete, asserting that they facilitated unfair competition and called for the revocation of Imane’s gold medal.
“We urge leaders in sports and governments worldwide to condemn the IOC and demand a public commitment to ensuring fair and safe sports for women from this day forward. This must never be allowed to happen again,” she said.
