Nigerian women are achievers, and Funke Akindele has once again demonstrated this through a high-profile partnership with Facebook that elevates Nigerian storytelling on the global stage.
Meta’s Facebook platform has partnered with the acclaimed Nollywood filmmaker, actress, and producer for the world premiere of her new film The Four; No One Fights Alone in London and its homecoming premiere in Lagos. The collaboration, announced on October 29, 2026, celebrates Nigerian creators and the communities that help their stories reach international audiences.
Facebook will support experiences at both premiere events that bring together creators, celebrities, and audiences. The partnership highlights how the platform enables storytellers to connect with fans, build communities around cultural moments, and create opportunities for content creators to expand their reach and earn from original work. A creator-hosted space at the events will feature Nigerian creators from home and the diaspora sharing how they use Facebook to engage younger audiences and promote Nigerian culture abroad.
Oluwasola Obagbemi, Meta’s Head of Communications for Sub-Saharan Africa, stated: “Facebook has always been about connecting people, and our partnership with Funke Akindele brings that to life through film. Through our partnership around The Four premieres in London and Lagos, we’re celebrating the creators shaping culture, and helping more creators who share original and engaging content on Facebook to succeed.”
Funke welcomed the partnership, saying: “African cinema has always had beautiful stories for the world to enjoy, and it’s exciting to have Facebook as a partner in bringing these stories to even more audiences globally.” Fans can follow exclusive behind-the-scenes content, premiere preparations, and updates via the Meta Africa page and Akindele’s official Facebook pages (including FAAN TV).
The partnership underscores Akindele’s continued influence in Nollywood, where she has built a strong track record of commercially successful December releases. Meta’s promotional posts featuring her have drawn widespread attention, reflecting growing international recognition for Nigerian women leading creative industries and expanding African narratives worldwide.
