Funke Akindele, award-winning actress and filmmaker, supports a therapy centre caring for children with disabilities. She donated to Magnificent Therapy Services and helped raise funds via Instagram on Sunday, May 17, 2026. The centre cares for over 32 children living with cerebral palsy, autism, Down syndrome, dysplasia, and pervasive developmental disorder in Lagos.
The centre had lamented on TikTok that their landlord evicted them from their premises on the morning of May 13, 2026, throwing their furniture and therapy materials outside. Caregivers stated they were left scrambling to shelter the children, first at a neighbour’s home and later at an uncompleted building whose owner also eventually asked them to leave.
Content creator Lifeof_ego, who visited the centre and posted the appeal on TikTok on May 17, tagged Funke Akindele in the video.
Reacting on Instagram, Funke Akindele stated that the video broke her heart.
āSeeing children living with autism, dyslexia, cerebral palsy and other special needs displaced and lying outside with their belongings is deeply upsetting,ā Funke stated.
She added that she had contributed to the Centre and appealed to others to do the same.
āNo child deserves to be left helpless. Please, whatever support you can give will go a long way,ā she stated, while sharing the centre’s account number with her followers.
Following Akindele’s support, Magnificent Therapy Services confirmed that donations had exceeded ā¦6 million by May 18, 2026. A bank alert showed that Bolanle Rita Akeredolu was among those who transferred funds directly to the centre’s account, with an available balance of ā¦6,006,675.51 at the time of the screenshot.
