Summary
A Georgia grand jury has decided not to charge Hannah G. Cobb, a woman who shot her boyfriend, Telvin Osborne, amid a prior altercation.
A Georgia grand jury has decided not to indict a woman accused of fatally shooting her boyfriend, concluding that she will not face criminal charges in connection with his death. The case was presented to a grand jury on April 24, 2025, but the grand jury decided not to pursue formal charges.
The suspect, 28-year-old Hannah G. Cobb, was initially arrested and charged with felony involuntary manslaughter in the February 2025 shooting death of 30-year-old Telvin Osborne in Burke County. However, District Attorney Jared Williams confirmed on May 23, 2025, that the grand jury returned a “no bill,” effectively clearing Cobb of the charges.
The incident occurred on February 23, 2025, at approximately 5:45 a.m., when Burke County deputies responded to a shooting at a residence on 4 Points Road in Keysville. Upon arrival, officers found Telvin Osborne in the master bedroom with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
According to Hannah, the shooting happened while she was either “clearing or cleaning” her 9mm pistol. In 911 audio recordings released to the public, she is heard telling the dispatcher,
“I didn’t mean to ma’am. It was an accident. We were checking the chamber of my gun, and it accidentally went off. I’m so sorry. Oh my god, I don’t know what to do.”
At another point in the call, she added, “It was stuck in the chamber and I accidentally pulled the trigger.”
However, Burke County Sheriff Alfonzo Williams cast doubt on Cobb’s claim that she had been cleaning the gun at the time of the shooting. During a press conference, Sheriff Williams stated that there was “no information or evidence” supporting the claim that she had been cleaning the weapon, and noted that both Hannah and Telvin had been drinking prior to the incident.
The prosecution added that the incident happened after the pair had been out until 2 a.m. at clubs in Augusta and there had been a confirmed altercation between the two that night.
Sheriff Williams said the shooting has not been officially classified as accidental, and confirmed that alcohol, a physical altercation, and the presence of a weapon were all contributing factors.
The District Attorney’s Office has not announced whether it will pursue further action or reopen the investigation.
