HerBeacon Initiatives (HBI) is set to host an empowering outreach in Ogun State to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child, observed annually on October 11. The global day shines a spotlight on girls’ rights and challenges and celebrates their role as leaders of change.
As a girl-child-centred organisation, HerBeacon Initiatives is committed to educating, empowering, and inspiring young girls to rise above limitations and reach their full potential. Their work focuses on building confidence, addressing and educating girls on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), providing essential resources, and amplifying the voices of girls in underserved communities.
This year’s outreach, themed “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead,” emphasises that girls are not waiting for permission to lead but are already shaping the world with courage, creativity, and vision. The event will be held on October 11, 2025, in Ogun State.

As part of the activities, the outreach programme will impact 100 girls through mentorship, education, and the distribution of essential items such as sanitary pads, school bags, and notebooks. Beyond meeting these needs, the initiative will inspire girls to embrace their worth, see themselves as leaders, and step confidently into roles as changemakers.
Speaking on the importance of the outreach, HBI noted that every girl deserves a safe space where her voice is heard, her dignity is protected, and her dreams are nurtured.
“We are excited to reach 100 girls with education, mentorship, and essential supplies such as sanitary pads and school materials. By investing in girls, we are investing in a generation of leaders, changemakers, and beacons of hope who will transform their societies.”
HerBeacon Initiatives (HBI) is also calling on students of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), to volunteer their time and skills in training girls during the outreach. In addition, organisations and individuals are encouraged to sponsor the initiative. Funds raised will purchase books, school bags, and other essential supplies that will benefit the girls.
