Hilda Effiong Bassey, known as Hilda Baci, a top Nigerian chef and Guinness World Record holder, has announced an ambitious new project, to cook the largest pot of Nigerian Jollof Rice the world has ever seen.
The event, dubbed the Gino World Jolof Festival with Hilda Barci, will be held on September 12, 2025, at Muri Okquala Park, Victoria Island, Lagos.
In May 2023, Hilda Baci gained international recognition for her Guinness World Record attempt for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
The Gino World Jolof Festival with Hilda Baci will feature a colossal 6-metre by 6-metre pot, in which Hilda will prepare the iconic West African dish.Â
She revealed that the Hilda Baci cookathon took the world by storm in 2023, and in 2025, it will be Jollof rice, the heartbeat of West Africa. Also, the event is more than just cooking, but a celebration of food, culture, and music.
“Two years ago, I imagined the largest pot of Nigerian Jollof rice the world had ever seen. Today, with Gino, a brand we all grew up with, my dream is becoming a reality,” she said.
