Summary: Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has become a three-time Guinness World Records holder after her September 2025 jollof rice attempt in Lagos was recognised by Guinness. The 8,780kg dish, prepared with food brand Gino, was later confirmed as the largest serving of rice overall.
Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has become a three-time Guinness World Records (GWR) holder, after Guinness officially recognised her for achieving the largest serving of rice overall, in addition to her previous jollof rice milestone.
The recognition followed a review of her record attempt with food brand Gino in Lagos. On September 12, 2025, at Victoria Island, Hilda Baci and her team prepared a massive 8,780 kilograms (19,356 lbs, 9 oz) of rice. While the attempt initially aimed to break the record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, Guinness later confirmed that the feat also qualified as the largest serving of rice overall.
Hilda Baci announced on Instagram the development on January 20, 2026, sharing a screenshot of an email from a member of the GWR creative team, informing her of the recognition. The email explained that the additional record was identified during a review of her original attempt:
In response, she described the news as completely unexpected, calling it a powerful way to step into the new year.
Guinness World Records also acknowledged Gino as a co-holder of the record, noting that the feat involved over 8,000 kg of rice and took place at Eko Hotels and Suites.
This latest achievement adds to Chef Hilda Baci’s growing list of accolades. She first entered the Guinness World Records in May 2023, completing the longest cooking marathon by an individual at 93 hours and 11 minutes. Her second record came in September 2025, when she prepared the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, which weighed the same 8,780 kg.
