Wesley University, Ondo, celebrated its 13th convocation ceremony with 19-year-old Ms. Ifeoluwa Mercy Adeyemi emerging as the overall best graduating student for the 2023/2024 academic session. 

Ifeoluwa Mercy, who earned a degree in Microbiology, graduated with an exceptional Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.97, attributing her success to unwavering focus and determination.

In a report by Vanguard News, Ifeoluwa, speaking during the institution’s 13th convocation ceremony revealed that avoiding distractions, including romantic relationships, was a key factor in her academic excellence.  Ifeoluwa also shared that her primary motivation was to make her parents proud.

 “At first, I have parents that I cannot disappoint. So this is one thing that keeps coming to my mind. Anytime I found distractions, I would remind myself: your parents are out there, and you need to make them proud,” she explained.

Looking to the future, Adeyemi expressed her ambition to create impactful solutions in the health sector.

 “I want to solve problems in this world, especially in the health sector. And I have to put more effort into understanding this course, Microbiology, because it deals with microorganisms, which are central to diseases and health. So I need to focus on it and make my parents proud” she stated.

She plans to continue her academic journey with aspirations for a Master’s degree and eventually a Ph.D., aiming to establish herself as a researcher. Adeyemi’s story serves as an inspiring testament to the power of discipline and purpose in achieving excellence.
