On December 9, 2024, the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, visited Lafia, Nasarawa State, to host an event at the Government House empowering survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).

The event, organised as part of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, was attended by key stakeholders, including the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, the state’s First Lady and the State Commissioner for Women Affairs & Social Development.

During the event, Imaan reaffirmed her dedication to supporting SGBV survivors, pledging to continue advocacy and collaboration with stakeholders to foster safer communities and eliminate gender-based violence in all its forms.

This initiative reflects the ongoing efforts to address the pervasive issue of SGBV in Nigeria. It highlights the government’s commitment to empowering survivors while raising awareness about the importance of reporting and preventing male violence against women and girls.
