Meet Anosike Chisom
Why did you decide to become a model?
I decided to become a model because, to me, it is born out of passion. I also want to challenge societal norms and promote diversity. As a person with albinism, I’ve faced numerous challenges and misconceptions. Through modelling, I aim to showcase my beauty, confidence, and strength, inspiring others to do the same. I believe representation matters, and I’m proud to be part of a movement that celebrates individuality.
What misconception about Albinism would you like to change?
One misconception I’d like to change is that people with albinism are weak or fragile. We are strong, resilient, and capable individuals who deserve respect and understanding. By showcasing my talents, skills, and beauty, I want to break down stereotypes and promote inclusivity.
What message or advice do you have for Young Girls with Albinism?
To young girls with albinism, I say: “You are beautiful, you are strong, and you are worthy of love and respect.” Don’t let societal expectations define your self-worth. Embrace your uniqueness, celebrate your individuality, and never abandon your dreams. You can achieve greatness, and I’m here to support and inspire you every step of the way.
What goals are you working towards in the next five years?
The goals I would work towards in the next five years include advancing my career and collaborating with top modelling companies to promote inclusivity in the fashion industry by showcasing the beauty of albinism. I also aim to build a supportive community for people with albinism through volunteering, mentorship, and knowledge-sharing to help reduce marginalisation and break stereotypes through education and awareness. Additionally, I plan to organise programmes themed “Beauty Beyond Colour” in at least six Nigerian states and launch a fashion brand that celebrates beauty in fashion for people with albinism.
Meanwhile, the first-ever beauty pageant exclusively celebrating individuals with albinism is set to take place on August 9, 2025. Organised by Misty Glam Company (MGC), the Albinism Beauty Pageant will spotlight visibility, identity, and beauty beyond society’s narrow standards.
Individuals or organisations interested in partnering or sponsoring the event can contact MGC via email at hello@mistyglamcompany.com or WhatsApp at 0704 870 4115.
