Nollywood actress Sarah Martins laments that the officials of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) task force assaulted and harassed her while she was distributing free food to homeless people in Lagos.

Nollywood actress and founder of the Golden Heart Foundation, Sarah Martins, laments being harassed by officials of the Kick Against Indiscipline task force on October 16, 2025, while distributing food at Admiralty Way in Lekki Phase 1.

Stating that she was not a chef and only wanted to help the poor and homeless, she said she was hurt during the encounter.

“Some uniform men came there, harassed me, bullied me and took away the food I was cooking, took away my cooking gas and everything I was making free food with,” she said,

The Lagos State Government, through its Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Mr Jubril Gawat, later confirmed the actions of the KAI officers, stating it was part of efforts to keep Lagos clean and maintain order.

“This lady claims she is ‘cooking for charity’ and she is using Admiralty, Lekki Phase 1 as her ‘kitchen’. The KAI officials have arrested her with all her equipment and cleaned up the whole axis,” Gawat said.

The videos have led to controversial statements with some Nigerians condemning the officers’ behaviour as excessive and inhumane, while others insisted that the task force was only enforcing the law.

Reacting to the video, an X user, @FrannyOD, expressed support for Sarah Martins, stating: “Her only offence? Serving love on a plate through her healthy meals. She always cleans up her surroundings after every outreach thoroughly. And you tell me Nigeria is a country under the @OfficialAPCNg ?

On Instagram, user @regina_anthony_ wrote, “They’re against her feeding the less privileged because they’re the ones intentionally starving them. What a lawless country.”

Another user, @okechukwu_ahumaraeze, said, “Even if they don’t want her to cook on the road, they should have calmly asked her to move, not rough-handle her. These people have zero conscience!”
