Summary
Katsina State is at the forefront of championing women's empowerment through initiatives like the Students CEOs Trade Fair and the Nigeria for Women Project (NFWP). These efforts reflect a growing commitment to creating opportunities for women to thrive in business and community development.
On Nov. 19, 2024, Katsina State witnessed the Students CEOs Trade Fair debut, organised by “sa_students_matters.” This trailblazing initiative aimed at showcasing entrepreneurial talents, particularly among young women, featured 90% female entrepreneurs as vendors, highlighting the crucial role of women in business and economic development.
The trade fair highlighted the importance of women’s empowerment in fostering economic growth and gender equality. The event provided a platform for young female entrepreneurs to display their skills, network, and gain visibility for their ventures.
In a related development, Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda also officially inaugurated the Nigeria for Women Project (NFWP) steering committee. This initiative, a flagship of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, is designed to enhance women’s livelihoods in targeted communities across the state.
Hadiza Abubakar Yar’adua, Katsina’s Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs, mentioned while speaking that this further demonstrated the state’s commitment to promoting women’s inclusion and empowerment.
