Lagos DSVA sensitises Odi-Olowo LCDA on combating sexual and gender-based violence, emphasising community engagement, awareness, and reporting abuse cases.
As part of its ongoing grassroots awareness campaign, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) sensitised residents of Odi-Olowo LCDA during their general Community Development Committee (CDC) meeting on February 4, 2025.
Speaking at the event, DSVA’s Executive Secretary, Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, emphasised the importance of community involvement in tackling sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). She urged CDCs to remain informed, vigilant, and proactive in addressing abuse cases.
An interactive session, led by Mr. Akinde Emmanuel, shed light on the various forms of SGBV, common misconceptions, preventive measures, and the importance of reporting cases. He also provided details on available support services for survivors and community members.
Chairman of the Odi-Olowo LCDA CDC, J.P. Otunba Adekunle Adebayo, commended DSVA for prioritising community engagement and pledged the CDC’s commitment to raising awareness and ensuring that abuse cases are reported promptly.
The session concluded with the distribution of DSVA’s toll-free helpline (08000-333-333), reinforcing the agency’s dedication to accessible support and survivor protection. Participants vowed to actively report and address cases of SGBV, ensuring that no survivor suffers in silence.
With this initiative, DSVA continues its grassroots campaign across Lagos State, strengthening community efforts in eradicating sexual and gender-based violence.
