Summary
The Lagos State DSVA engages private sector organisations to combat workplace harassment and SGBV through awareness sessions, policy advocacy, and support service.
The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has strengthened its efforts to tackle Sexual and Gender-Based Violence and workplace harassment by collaborating with key private sector organisations.
On Jan 30, 2025, the Executive Secretary, Ms Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, addressed over 1,300 staff members of Wema Bank, emphasising the importance of fostering a safe and inclusive work environment. The initiative continued at UAC Foods Limited on Friday, January 31, 2025, where Ms Tumininu, Head of Case Management, led a session attended by 191 participants both in-person and online.
Ms. Tumininu highlighted that sexual harassment is not always sexual but can include unwelcome gestures or comments. She stressed the importance of clear policies to prevent such behaviours and encouraged employees to speak out against harassment.
The sessions sparked insightful discussions, with employees raising questions and sharing concerns. To support victims and witnesses, DSVA distributed materials containing the toll-free helpline 08000-333-333 for reporting incidents and accessing assistance.
This initiative aligns with the Lagos State Government’s commitment to combating Sexual and Gender-Based Violence through awareness, prevention, and accountability, ensuring that all workplaces are safe and free from sexual harassment.
