As part of its ongoing efforts to combat domestic and sexual violence, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) engaged members of the Lagos State barbers, hairdressers & cosmetologists Association in an awareness session on February 13, 2025.
During the session, Lagos DSVA’s Community Engagement Officer, Ms. Odumbo Adetoun, educated attendees on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), legal protections, and available support services. She emphasised their crucial role in identifying and reporting abuse within their communities.
Association President, Ms. Folashade Sadeeq, commended the agency’s efforts and pledged the association’s commitment to spreading awareness.
Since its establishment, the Lagos DSVA has remained dedicated to providing sensitive services to survivors while promoting a coordinated community response to domestic and sexual violence. The agency has also prioritised the protection of children from neglect, abuse, violence, and exploitation.
Reaffirming its commitment, the Lagos DSVA vowed to ensure that women and girls are protected, while perpetrators of these crimes face justice.
