Travel and lifestyle content creator Angelica Kelechi has called out Sayria Spa, located in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, for sexual assault during a massage session on May 21, 2025.
In a now-viral video posted on her Instagram page, Angelica reported that a male masseur “repeatedly inserted his fingers in her vagina area during the session.” The post has since received 8,323 likes and 2,113 comments.
Recounting the details, she said,
“I was sexually assaulted at Sayria. Lagos on Wednesday, May 21st, in Lekki Phase 1. When this situation was brought to the spa, they tried to hide the boy and give us the run around. My kindness has been taken for weakness, and I will not be okay with that anymore,” Angelica wrote.
She also reported escalating the issue to the spa’s management. In a recorded phone call, a voice reportedly belonging to the spa’s owner, Khloe, a former BBNaija housemate, said, “These things happen at a massage.”
Angelica explained that she did not initially react during the massage because “She was in shock, was in shock and had a delayed response, especially in a country like Nigeria where women get delayed justice.”
However, Angelica reported the issue to the police, but said the officials involved in the case engaged in victim blaming, asking her what a young girl like her was doing in a spa.
Angelica further escalated the issue to the media. In response, Sayria Spa released an official statement.
The spa acknowledged awareness of the situation and claimed that Angelica withdrew her report at the police station and requested that Sayria Spa donate to a non-profit organisation of her choosing, which they adhered to.
They added that the staff in question has been sacked and a thorough inquiry is underway.
While there has been no response from Angelica regarding the organisation’s press statement, her previous statement on the matter states that “an experience to celebrate her birthday has become a nightmare and now a trauma.”
