The Miss Nigeria Organisation has issued a public apology to Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde following a controversial encounter between her and a male interviewer at the 46th Miss Nigeria Patrons & Board Dinner in Lagos.

In a statement released on March 24, 2026, the organisers expressed regret for the discomfort the actress experienced during the private event held in Victoria Island. They expressed sincere apologies to Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde for the discomfort she experienced.

The organisers also described her as a valued member of its community, a close friend of the organisation and a respected figure who has spent decades paving the way for young creatives, noting that she deserves the utmost respect and care.

They clarified that the dinner was a strictly invite-only event and not open to the press, stating that the individual who approached the actress was neither invited nor officially affiliated with the programme.

“That behaviour, approaching a woman uninvited, encroaching on her personal space, and persisting after she had clearly expressed her discomfort, is completely unacceptable, and we will not stand for it,” the organisation said.

The apology follows the circulation of videos showing actress Omotola confronting an interviewer during a red-carpet segment at the event. In the footage, the interviewer asked Omotola an open-ended question, inviting her to introduce herself. The actress pushed back, questioning the interviewer’s preparedness.

Despite the interviewer’s attempt to clarify that he knew her identity and only intended to introduce her to viewers, the exchange escalated, with the actress warning, “Don’t touch me!” before walking away.

The Miss Nigeria Organisation urged media practitioners to respect event protocols and called on the public to avoid drawing conclusions based on short video clips. They maintained that the viral footage did not present the full picture of what transpired and reiterated their commitment to ensuring a respectful and controlled environment at their events.

“We kindly ask that as we build together, the media continues to work with us to respect event protocols and the privacy of our invited guests, ensuring everyone can enjoy these curated experiences comfortably,” the organisation stated.
