Summary
Naija Feminists Media has launched its inaugural Editorial Fellowship in commemoration of the 2025 #16DaysofActivism Against Gender-Based Violence. Running from October 27 to December 12, the fellowship will train 16 journalists across Africa in gender-inclusive storytelling and investigative reporting on femicide.
As part of its commitment to advancing feminist journalism and gender reporting, Naija Feminists Media calls on media professionals to apply for its inaugural Media Fellowship in commemoration of the 2025 #16DaysofActivism Against Gender-Based Violence.
Femicide is the intentional killing of women and girls by men they know. Yet, it is rarely reported or given the attention it deserves.
The fellowship is designed for innovative journalists and media professionals across Africa who are committed to driving systemic social change through storytelling.
From October 27 to December 12, 2025, the fellowship will train 16 selected journalists with the skills and mentorship to produce stories on femicide.
Each fellow will produce one original story highlighting lived realities, contributing factors, and solutions. Stories will be published daily throughout the 16 Days of Activism to educate the public, challenge harmful narratives, and push for legislative accountability on femicide across Africa.
The fellowship is designed with clear objectives to ensure lasting impact in journalism and advocacy:
- Train journalists in gender-inclusive investigative reporting, narrative writing, and ethical storytelling.
- Foster a cohort of storytellers who apply a gender lens to social, political, and economic issues.
- Produce high-quality journalism that contributes to public discourse and drives legislative change on femicide.
- Provide mentorship, collaboration, and networking opportunities to build long-term professional impact.
- Sensitise the public and facilitate policy action on femicide in Africa.
