Naija Feminists Media (NFM) has trained teenage girls in Lagos on gender equality, digital safety, and media literacy. The innovative session held on June 20, 2025, was at the 2025 Red Flag Conference, a convergence of 100+ students to empower them with menstrual knowledge and leadership skills.

In a breakout session, NFM trained over 30 students from Immaculate Senior High School, Mende Junior  High School, and Mende Senior High School.

NFM was represented by its founder, Simbiat Bakare, who facilitated the session. She guided the girls through conversations on their rights, personal safety, and digital empowerment.

The session provided a safe space for the girls to confront the challenges girls face in the digital space.

Some of the girls shared that they often felt inferior to boys and expressed real fears about being targeted by online predators.

Simbiat addressed these concerns by teaching the girls to affirm gender equality, report harassment, stay safe online, and use media for good.

“At the end of the training, the students learned that they should always report sexual predators or harassment to online platforms and adults,” She said. “Additionally, they learned how to navigate online platforms safely and use media for good to improve their lives.”
