Summary
Naija Feminist Media has partnered with Misty Glam Company to amplify Nigeria’s first beauty pageant for women with albinism. Using storytelling and advocacy, NFM will help challenge beauty standards and promote inclusivity in media and fashion.
Naija Feminist Media (NFM), a non-profit media organisation committed to amplifying women’s rights and marginalised voices, is proud to announce a media partnership with Misty Glam Company to support Nigeria’s first-ever beauty pageant for persons with albinism.
This groundbreaking initiative seeks to challenge mainstream beauty standards and tackle the underrepresentation of people with albinism in the fashion and beauty industry. Through multimedia storytelling, interviews, and social media campaigns, NFM will spotlight the experiences of women with albinism by sharing their stories, struggles, and triumphs.
NFM’s Partnerships Officer, Nkechi Igwebuike, expressed that the organisation “aims to reframe narratives surrounding albinism in a more positive and empowering light.”
Similarly, Misturah Abisola Owolabi, the Creative Director of Misty Glam Company, emphasises both organisations’ commitment to reimagining beauty and visibility.
“At Misty Glam, we believe everybody deserves to be seen, celebrated, and centred — and we’re excited to collaborate with a platform that continues to amplify voices at the margins,” Misturah said.
The pageant is more than a competition. It’s a bold statement that beauty exists in every skin tone and condition. It aligns closely with NFM’s mission to advocate for inclusivity in media through powerful storytelling and meaningful partnerships.
Misty Glam Company, the first truly inclusive commercial modelling agency in Nigeria, represents models of all skin tones, body types, ages, and backgrounds. The agency is dedicated to reshaping the industry by championing diversity and authentic representation.
