As we move closer to wrapping up the month of July, signifying the end of more than a quarter of the year, Naija Feminists Media did not relent in its mission to advocate for women’s rights and better representation of them in the media. - Lagos Schoolgirls Build AI Tools to Tackle Bullying, Improve Safety and Expand Access to Learning
One hundred and thirty-five girls from public secondary schools across Lagos have developed artificial intelligence-powered tools tackling issues including bullying, student safety and access to education through Tech4Dev’s maiden AI Inter-District Secondary School Challenge. Organised under the Tech Girls Drive Advocacy programme of the Women Techsters initiative, the competition brought together students from 27 public secondary schools across Lagos Education Districts II and IV, where they received practical AI training before designing projects inspired by challenges within their schools and communities.
- Iziegbe Ogbiede Calls on Nigerian Government to Place Travel Ban on South Africa Over Xenophobic Attacks
Nigerian content creator and social commentator Iziegbe Ogbiede has called on the Nigerian government to place an immediate travel ban on South Africa. She also called for all South African businesses to be removed from Nigeria, in response to sustained xenophobic attacks on Nigerians living in the country.
- Pastor Ubong Bassey Etim Murders 16-Year-Old Daughter with Down Syndrome, Sentenced to Death
A High Court in Calabar, Cross River State, has sentenced 51-year-old pastor Ubong Bassey Etim to death by hanging for the murder of his 16-year-old daughter, who lived with Down syndrome, after falsely accusing her of witchcraft.
- Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya Elected National Bar Association President
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, has been elected as the new President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). Badejo-Okusanya, who is a partner at ALP NG & Co. and campaigned on the slogan, “A Bolder Bar That Works for Everyone,” promised reforms aimed at improving lawyers’ welfare and strengthening the association.
- 14-Year-Old Maryam Yusuf Leads Nigeria’s Team to Win 2026 Spelling Bee World Cup
Maryam Yusuf, a 14-year-old student, has led her team to emerge victorious at the 2026 Spelling Bee World Cup held in Shanghai, China. This achievement was announced on the Nigeria Spelling Bee official Facebook page on Sunday. Sunday, July 19, 2026.
