Summary

The Nigeria Police Force has extradited Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, a.k.a. Killaboi, from Qatar to face murder charges over the 2023 killing of Augusta Onuwabhagbe, after months on the run across multiple countries using false identities.

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, popularly known as Killaboi. He was transferred from Doha, Qatar, to Nigeria, where he is expected to face murder charges in the death of his 21-year-old girlfriend, Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe.

Killaboi was arrested in February 2025 after months on the run. According to the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, he was returned to Nigeria on April 19, 2025, following a joint operation involving INTERPOL NCB Abuja, the Federal Ministry of Justice, and Qatari judicial authorities.

Killaboi was declared wanted in October 2023 after he confessed to killing Augusta Onuwabhagbe Osedion, known as Austa, on his social media pages.

According to reports, Austa’s mother found her dead in his apartment in Ajah, Lagos. An autopsy confirmed that she had been reportedly stabbed, and her genitals were missing, indicating possible ritual motives. He then fled Nigeria shortly after the crime. He later appeared in a viral video, seemingly confessing to the murder, though police now say the video was part of a deliberate attempt to mislead the investigation.

After the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department declared him wanted, an Interpol Red Notice was issued for his arrest. He was briefly apprehended in Freetown, Sierra Leone, on October 20, 2023, under the alias “Kanu Princeton Samuel.” However, he escaped custody on November 26, 2023, during a prison break.

Further intelligence revealed that Killaboi continued evading capture by travelling across West Africa, East Asia, and the Middle East, using forged identities and documents. He eventually settled in Doha, Qatar, on January 24, 2025, using the false identity “Toure Abdoulaye” and a fake Guinean passport.

His presence in Qatar was uncovered through covert intelligence gathering. Interpol NCB Abuja, in collaboration with Qatari authorities, confirmed his identity through biometric data, leading to his arrest and subsequent extradition to Nigeria.

The extradition process was reportedly initiated following a petition from the deceased’s family on September 29, 2024, through their legal representatives.

Killaboy is now in custody and expected to face full prosecution for the murder of Augusta Onuwabhagbe. This case highlights the growing concern of femicide, which continues to rise across the country, prompting urgent calls for justice, protection, and systemic action.
