Ozioma Okonkwo, a native of Imo state, has been arrested for raping his two daughters, ages two and five. This incident was confirmed by the Enugu State Ministry of Children, Gender Affairs,  and Social Development through its press statement. The children are in a government-approved shelter, undergoing medical and psychological care and support.

Following a concerned neighbour alert about the disturbing incident, Ozioma was arrested on Saturday night, October 25, 2025. He would be arraigned in court after the police completed their investigation. The children have been admitted to a government-approved shelter, where they are receiving medical and psychological care and support. 

 Sexual violence against girls and women remains a systemic issue in Nigeria. According to a  UNICEF report, one in three Nigerian girls experiences sexual violence before the age of 15. Girls with disabilities and those living in rural communities are at greater risk. The perpetrators are often family members or intimate partners who are meant to protect and care for them.
