A pastor in Delta State was chased out of a marketplace by market women after making misogynistic remarks, including calling them "goats." The viral video shows the women confronting him, seizing his equipment, and expelling him, with many online applauding their stand against misogyny.

A pastor in Delta State, Abraka, was chased out of a marketplace by an outraged group of market women after making insulting and misogynistic statements towards women during a sermon. The incident, captured in a viral video, shows the women confronting the preacher, seizing his equipment, and forcing him to leave the area.

In the video, the market women are seen placing the preacher’s speaker on the ground, holding and dragging him, and demanding an explanation for his derogatory remarks. According to one of the women, the pastor regularly visits the market to preach but repeatedly refers to them, especially Urhobo women, as “goats.”

The pastor had gained notoriety in the community for his controversial preaching style, which is described as abusive and corruptive. He is known for coming to the market to attack the women, targeting their appearances, livelihoods, and even their motherhood. This behaviour, which had persisted for a long time, led the women to decide that enough was enough.

The protest escalated as the women collectively drove the pastor out of the area, vowing to prevent his return. An elderly woman among the protesters urged the community to act by permanently expelling the preacher. She emphasised that this was not the first time he had made derogatory remarks about women, adding that his presence was unnecessary and unwelcomed. She also called on the public to remove him from the community to prevent him from spreading harmful influence, particularly to their children.

The video of the confrontation has sparked widespread attention on social media, with many Nigerians applauding the women for standing up against misogyny and defending their dignity.
