OGTV Legendary Broadcaster Bukola Agbakaizu Dies in Abeokuta

Summary

Bukola Agbakaizu, a legendary broadcast journalist with OGTV, has died on May 12, 2025, in Abeokuta. The  52-year-old veteran was a committed and versatile journalist who served as a former Vice Chairperson of the OGTV Chapel and was an Ex-Officio member of the NUJ Ogun State Council until her passing.

A respected broadcast journalist at Ogun State Television (OGTV), Ms. Bukola Agbakaizu, tragically slumped and died on  May 12, 2025, while preparing for her afternoon shift at the station’s premises in Abeokuta.

Her death was confirmed in a statement issued by the Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, Mr. Bunmi Adigun, on May 13, 2025.

According to the statement, Ms. Bukola collapsed while getting ready for duty. She was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, where she was pronounced dead on arrival despite efforts to resuscitate her.

Ms. Bukola Agbakaizu, aged 52, was a committed and versatile journalist who served as a former Vice Chairperson of the OGTV Chapel and was an Ex-Officio member of the NUJ Ogun State Council until her passing.

“Her vibrant spirit and commitment to journalism will be sorely missed, leaving an irreplaceable void in our community,” the statement reads.

Bukola Agbakaizu is survived by her two children, her aged mother, and numerous colleagues and friends who now mourn her untimely loss.
