Naija Feminists Media, in collaboration with LOK Natal Care, will host a Twitter Space on September 10, 2025, to address misconceptions about PCOS and its impact on women. The event will feature experts, advocates, and survivors and build up to the premiere of the advocacy documentary Beyond D’ Symptoms.
As part of activities to mark PCOS Awareness Month, Naija Feminists Media, in partnership with LOK Natal Care, will host a Twitter Space titled “Addressing Misconceptions about PCOS” on September 10, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. WAT.
September is observed as PCOS Awareness Month to raise global awareness, dispel misconceptions, and promote research, education, and support for those affected. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is one of the leading causes of infertility globally, affecting millions of women. Beyond fertility struggles, it also triggers emotional, hormonal, and long-term health challenges that are often overlooked.
The campaign also emphasises the importance of early diagnosis and proper treatment, given PCOS’s links to long-term health risks such as diabetes, heart disease, and endometrial cancer.
The virtual conversation will focus on dispelling myths surrounding PCOS, addressing its impact on survivors, and promoting accurate information and support systems.
The session will feature a lineup of experts and advocates. Public health advocate and LOK Natal Care founder, Kauthar Opeyemi Lawal, will provide medical insights and guidance on PCOS.
Morenikeji Olaniran, a PCOS survivor, will share her lived experience and how she survived it, while Elizabeth Ogunbamowo, an award-winning journalist and fact-checker, will speak on the role of information and the media in health advocacy. Women’s rights advocate Oluwafunmbi Ogunsola will also join the panel.
The X Space serves as a build-up to the premiere of “Beyond D’ Symptoms,” an advocacy documentary produced by LOK Natal Care in collaboration with Ayo Ekunz Visuals Production.
Following the premiere, the campaign will extend to university campuses and underserved communities, featuring special screenings, free consultations by medical professionals, and distributing PCOS awareness kits with support from partner organisations.
Join the conversation on September 10 at 5 p.m. at @Naijaradfems on X, as we work to break the stigma around PCOS and amplify the voices of women affected by the condition.
