The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed a viral “wanted” poster of Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo as fake. It urged the public to disregard the poster and verify information only from official NPF channels.
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has dismissed a viral “wanted” poster of Nollywood actress and entrepreneur, Iyabo Ojo, describing it as fake and misleading.
The poster, which circulated on social media, falsely claimed that the actress had been declared wanted by authorities, offering a reward for information leading to her arrest. It was reportedly shared by one Princess Layo Adejokeh on Facebook.
In a statement released on its verified Facebook page on August 21, 2025, the police urged Nigerians to disregard the poster, stressing that it did not originate from the Force.
“Fake News Alert! This ‘Wanted’ poster of actress Iyabo Ojo did not emanate from the Nigerian Police Force. It is false, misleading and was never posted on any official NPF platform,” the statement reads in part.
The clarification comes amid ongoing disputes involving Iyabo Ojo, Naira Marley, and Sam Larry, which have drawn commentary from activist Martins Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman.
The police maintained that no such arrest notice exists, warned against the spread of misinformation, and urged the public to verify only from official NPF channels.
