Ayo Hulayat Omidiran, a former member of the House of Representatives and renowned football administrator has been appointed as the new Executive Chairperson of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), by the President Bola Ahmad Tinubu.
According to a statement issued on Monday, August 11, 2025, by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Hulayat succeeded Dr. Muheeba Dankaka as the new Executive Chairperson of FCC.
The statement reads: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named Ayo Hulayat, a former House of Representatives member, the new Executive Chairperson of the Federal Character Commission. She succeeds Dr. Muheeba Dankaka, whose tenure was dogged by controversy.”
Hulayat represented Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency of Osun State in the House of Representatives from 2011 to 2019. She was a former member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and chaired the NFF women’s Football committee. She is also the founder of Omidiran Babes, a prominent Nigerian women’s football club in the 1990s.
As the new Executive Chairperson Hulayat will oversee the FCC’s effort to promote fairness and equal representation in Nigeria’s federal government.
