The Red Flag Conference, an annual convergence for in-school girls designed to empower them with confidence, knowledge, and skills, is set to host its 2025 edition. The programme will occur on June 20, at 9:00 a.m. at Mende High School, Maryland, Lagos.
Centred on the theme “Bleed with Confidence, Lead With Purpose,” the conference, organised by The Girls’ Pride Initiative for Sustainable Development, will convene over 300 teenage girls from public secondary schools for a powerful day of learning, empowerment, and advocacy.
Key partners for the event include Nigeria’s foremost feminist digital media platform, Naija Feminists Media (NFM), and SALBA Global, an organisation that equips professionals with practical skills and strategies to boost personal effectiveness and organisational productivity.
Other collaborators are the Lagos State Ministry of Education and Teengress Developmental Foundation, a youth-led nonprofit dedicated to nurturing the development of teenagers and young adults across Africa.
With the strategic collaboration, seeking to break menstrual stigma and promote girls’ leadership, the event will be a transformative session for teenage girls.
Faith Omeje, the executive director of Teengress Development Foundation, with over five years of experience working with teenagers in Nigeria, will lead the keynote, setting the tone for the year’s conference. She will speak on “Period Power: Breaking the Silence, Building Confidence.”
Felix Odofin, the Founder of SALBA and a seasoned personal development and corporate training expert, will facilitate a mentorship session titled “Becoming a Voice for Change and Leading with Purpose.” This session will inspire girls to be changemakers in their community.
NFM founder and award-winning investigative journalist Simbiat Bakare will offer guidance and insights to empower the next generation to be confident and digitally aware. She will lead an interactive session titled “Smart Girls, Safe Online – Thriving in the Digital Age.” This will equip young girls with the tools to navigate the digital space confidently, adopt healthy online habits, and stay safe.
This year’s Red Flag Conference promises to be a transformative gathering, marking a meaningful step in the ongoing mission to empower teenage girls to lead confidently, advocate for their rights, and shape a future where every girl thrives.
