Rights activist Rinu Oduala has raised concerns over the continued suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from the Nigerian Senate.
Recall On August 28, 2025, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan informed the Senate that her six-month suspension had expired and sought to resume duties.
However, in a Sept. 4 reply, Acting Clerk Dr. Yahaya Danzaria rejected her request, saying she could not return until the judicial process was concluded and the Senate reviewed the court’s ruling on her suspension.
In a post shared on Sept. 10, 2025, Rinu criticised Senate President Godswill Akpabio for their conduct and questioned why other senators have remained silent.
“There are 107 other senators in the Nigerian Senate. If Akpabio insists on being a lawless criminal, are other senators criminals too?” Rinu wrote.
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended on March 6, 2025, despite the Federal High Court ordering her reinstatement.
