In a post shared on her social media platforms, she urged fans and moviegoers to avoid recording short clips during screenings, emphasising that such actions constitute piracy. She expressed frustration at the damaging impact of piracy on the film industry and pleaded with her audience to support her work ethically.
“Recording short videos at the cinemas is piracy!!! Please stop it!!! Piracy is killing us!!” she wrote. “I worked so hard on this project. Please, I’m pleading, do not be caught promoting piracy!”
Stating that she had a lot of resources and hard work invested in the production of Everybody Loves Jenifa, she pleaded with her supporters to respect intellectual property and ensure that the hard work of filmmakers is not undermined by illegal activities. “The act of you filming is piracy and we must not encourage piracy.”
