Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has launched a nationwide menstrual health project valued at N2.55bn. This project will distribute a one-year supply of disposable sanitary sanitary pads to 370, 000 school girls in rural communities across the country.
The project was unveiled on October 2, 2025, at the State House, Alausa Ikeja, Lagos State. The project is named “Flow With Confidence” and under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
Addressing the challenges that many schoolgirls used unsafe alternatives or skipped schools due to unaffordability of sanitary pads, Senator Oluremi through RHI aimed to empower schoolgirls especially in the rural communities. She believes no girl should be forced to choose between her education and dignity.
All the states and FCT will receive 10, 000 packs each through the state’s First Ladies and RHI coordinators. The project has already commenced in Borno, Imo, Enugu, Cross River, Ekiti, Combe, Kebbi, and Lagos State, with other states expected to begin once they receive their packages.
Senator Oluremi stressed that the pads must be distributed free of charge. She also warned against any attempt to commercialise it, while calling on religious institutions, corporate bodies, and community leaders to support and monitor the program’s success.
