Selected as one of 52 women among 92 honourees, Simbiat Bakare is celebrated for her work in leveraging media and technology to challenge gender bias and elevate women’s visibility in Nigerian news narratives. Through NFM, she leads a feminist media collective that uses storytelling and advocacy to push for gender equality and disrupt traditional media structures.
Her growing list of accolades, including the She Global Award and inclusion in She Leads Africa’s 50 Under 30, reflects her continued commitment to amplifying women’s voices and reshaping the continent’s media landscape. She has also earned accolades from the African Fact-Checking Awards, the DUBAWA Fact Check Awards, and the OMA Award.
