Grammy-winning and Oscar-nominated singer, songwriter, and producer Tems has joined the San Diego FC ownership group as a club partner ahead of the team’s 2025 expansion season.

With this move, the Nigerian-born artist becomes the first African female involved in Major League Soccer (MLS) ownership.

Tems, known for her distinctive, soulful sound, brings her creative vision and passion for community to San Diego FC. Sharing her excitement, she announced the news on Instagram:

“I’m so stoked to announce that I have officially joined @sandiegofc ownership group as a Club Partner! I get to be a part of a family that encompasses everything I believe in with the SDFC’s initiative, which is all about giving young talents the opportunity to shine both on and off the field. This is more than a club—it’s a movement. Can’t wait for what’s ahead!”

Tems has captivated global audiences with her music, earning a Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance for “Love Me JeJe,” a standout track from her acclaimed debut album Born In The Wild.

Through her company, The Leading Vibe, she joins an elite group of San Diego FC partners committed to excellence and community development. Fellow club partners include Issa Rae, Juan Mata, Jocko Willink, and Manny Machadoers, including Issa Rae, Juan Mata, Jocko Willink, and Manny Machado.

Tems’ involvement in San Diego FC is in partnership with Pave Investments, an African private investment firm that previously led an investment group in NBA Africa’s expansion in 2021.
