“The World Fears Women it Cannot Control,” Mo Abudu Declares
Summary: Mo Abudu challenged the social conditioning that pressures women to shrink their ambition to appear more acceptable, arguing that the world’s discomfort with powerful women is the real problem, not the women themselves
Nigerian media mogul and EbonyLife Media CEO Mo Abudu has declared that the world fears women it cannot control, challenging the social conditioning that pressures women to soften their ambition in order to appear more acceptable.
On March 17, 2026, Mo stated on her instagram page that many women were raised to be polite, grateful and modest, and that while humility has its place, it becomes dangerous when it begins to silence ambition.
“We’ve been conditioned to believe that wanting more makes us less feminine,” she stated. “But maybe the problem isn’t who we are. Maybe the problem is the world’s fear of women who can’t be controlled.”
The EbonyLife CEO also challenged women to redefine what success means, stating that real success lives not in performance or external validation, but in peace, purpose and joy.
“When you strip away the titles, the trophies, the applause, what’s left? Your peace, your purpose, your joy. That’s where the real success lives. Not in performance, but in truth,” she said.
