Udochi Amala Sets Ablaze Wife, Children to Death

Summary

In a growing incidence of male violence against women, Udochi Amala sets ablaze his wife and three children in Abia state. The International Federation of Women Lawyers calls for urgent intervention and justice.

Udochi Amala, a 40-year-old man, set ablaze his wife, Amarachi Amala, and three children over alleged infidelity. The incident happened on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Onicha Ngwa community in Obingwa Local Government Area, Abia state.

Despite confirmation from Udochi that his wife was never seen with another man, he committed  the horrendous act and attempted to flee. However, he was apprehended. Reports state that one of his daughters died due to severe burns. 

The International Federation of Women Lawyers, Abia State, has condemned the act, citing domestic violence and child abuse. The organisation demands a thorough investigation and justice for the victims.
