Insights from Elizabeth Olasunbo Bolarinwa on Persons with Albinism

  1. Why did you decide to participate in the albinism beauty pageant?

I decided to participate in the pageant because I want to inspire and encourage Persons with Albinism, mostly the younger ones, with my stories.

  1. What misconception about albinism would you like to change?

The misconception I would like to change about albinism is that Persons with Albinism don’t eat salt because it causes freckles on their bodies, which is not true. It is the sun that is the enemy of our skin due to the low or lack of melanin in our skin.

  1. What message or advice do you have for young girls with albinism?

My message to young girls with albinism is that they are beautifully and wonderfully made. They should focus on becoming great in life and never allow anyone to make them feel less of themselves.

  1. What goals are you working toward in the next five years?

I want to work on my career and personal development by making my YouTube channel and other social media more active in terms of advocacy and business. I also want to improve my public speaking and leadership skills by collaborating and networking with some organisations in my community and disability space, and mentoring and empowering young people.

The first Albinism Beauty Pageant, organised by Misty Glam Company (MGC), will take place on September 13, 2025, in Lagos. For partnerships or sponsorships, contact MGC via email at hello@mistyglamcompany.com or WhatsApp at 0704 870 4115.
