Sandra Onyenucheya, a Nigerian entrepreneur and CEO of Vivabella Designs, fires back at a troll who told her to get plastic surgery, emphasising that she owes nobody a fixed face.
The exchange took place in response to a comment on her verified Vivabella Designs page, where a user named i.love.meee.me told Sandra to stop hiding behind filters and to fix her face and teeth instead.
Sandra responded without hesitation: “Why would I want to fix my face or teeth or any other parts that the lord almighty gave me to make you feel fulfilled?”
The remark was one of several targeting Sandra under a comment that referenced her as a “favourite cheating wife,” a label tied to unproven allegations and debunked narratives of affairs involving her and Afrobeat singer Chike, while married to her estranged husband Frank Edoho.
Sandra has spent the past several months publicly contesting the narrative around the collapse of her marriage to Edoho. In May, she released a lengthy statement alleging that Edoho was abusive during their marriage, including a claim that he once threatened her with a dumbbell, saying he would “smash her face” so no other man would find her attractive.
Considering the controversy, the demand that Sandra should surgically alter her appearance to suit the definition of beauty of an online troll is not accidental; it reinforces the societal norms that a woman’s face and body exist to be evaluated, corrected, and controlled by someone else’s judgment. However, Sandra promptly shut down the troll.
