The 67th Grammy Awards showcased the dominance of women in music, with female artists excelling across various genres and cementing their place in history.

Women took centre stage at the 67th annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 2, 2025, in Los Angeles, securing major wins across multiple categories and making history in the music industry.  

Nigerian Afrobeats star Tems won her second Grammy Award, taking home the “Best African Music Performance” prize. Her victory reinforced the growing influence of Afrobeats on the global stage.  

Beyoncé made history by winning “Album of the Year” for “Cowboy Carter,” becoming the first Black woman to receive the honour since Lauryn Hill in 1999. She also secured the Best Country Album award, further solidifying her status as a trailblazer across multiple genres.  

Rising rap star Doechii won Best Rap Album for “Alligator Bites Never Heal,” marking a major career milestone. Meanwhile, Sza earned her fifth Grammy Award, winning “Best R&B Song” for her hit single “Saturn”.  

In the electronic and dance category, Charli XCX’s album “BRAT” won “Best Dance/Electronic Album,” making it her third Grammy win.  

Pop legends also had a strong showing, with Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars wining “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” for “Die With a Smile,” marking Lady Gaga’s 14th Grammy and Mars’ 16th.  

Pop star Sabrina Carpenter also won her first Grammy, taking home “Best Pop Vocal Album” for “Short n’ Sweet.”  

Jazz vocalist “Samara Joy” has also continued her winning streak, securing “Best Jazz Performance” and “Bedt Jazz Vocal Album,” bringing her Grammy total to five.
