Favour Ofili, one of Nigeria's athletes, has confirmed her official switch to Turkey on a social media handle. Favour is a talented sprinter who has represented the nation in many successful sports competitions.

Nigerian star field and one of the nation’s recognised finest sprinters, Favour Ofili, has confirmed her official switch to Turkey. This act marked the end of her sports career with the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN).

In the shared post on her X handle, the 22-year old sprinter stressed that her decision was not by financial motive, but from the heart. She expressed excitement for this new chapter and gratitude for her coach, agent, sponsor, and loved ones during the difficult times.

Additionally, she took pride in her past achievements for Nigeria and voiced her disappointment with the AFN and NOC’s negligence towards her.

“Wrapping up my 2025 season has been a whirlwind of new experiences and big decisions. Racing back-to-back across amazing cities and learning from the best has been incredible. As some of you have heard, I’m starting a new chapter representing Turkey. I am proud to have represented Nigeria for many years in a highly successful way,” part of the post reads.

Favour is a two-time National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) champion and holds the World record for being the first woman to run 150m under 16 seconds.
