The ReportWomen Female Reporters Leadership Programme (FRLP) has inducted twelve fellows into its sixth cohort. This is a continued effort by the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) to promote gender equality and leadership in Nigeria’s newsroom. Their  induction took place on September 24, 2025, at Ikeja Lagos State.

The ReportWomen programme was launched in 2014 and officially began its journalism fellowship in 2017. It aims to address the underrepresentation of women in the newsroom leadership, promoting gender inequality in the Nigerian media space.

The fellowship has built women leaders in media and amplified women and girls centered stories. It has produced 98 fellows drawn from across Nigeria with two from Ghana, including the sixth cohort. It has also published 148 Investigative stories and executed 150 women and girls focused leadership projects.

Speaking at the induction ceremony, Ms. Motunrayo Alaka, the Executive Director of WSCIJ said: “Through ReportWomen and its Female Reporters Leadership Programme (FRLP), we have shown that democracy is stronger and governance better when women’s voices are amplified.

With courage, leadership, and uncommon storytelling, they have exposed hidden truths from the digital sex trade to unsafe communities around oil pipelines.”

The fellows include Aisha Gambo (NAN), Bilkis Abdulraheem (Bond FM), Chigozie Victor (Big Cabal Media), and Christiana Alabi-Akande (DevReporting), Dana Zagi (Daily Trust), Gloria Attah (ClearView TV), Jemilat Nasiru (The Cable), Juliet Buna (Crest FM), Mary Agidi (The Hope), Melody Ishola (The Punch), Rasheedat Iliyas (Harmony), and Temitope Obayendo (Pharmanews).
