Yeni Kuti has criticised Ngozi Ezeonu for publicly scolding two young women over their dressing at an audition, claiming it was not Ezeonu’s place to condemn them, pointing out the differences in how older and younger generations view dressing.
Media personality Yeni Kuti has called out veteran actress Ngozi Ezeonu for publicly scolding two young ladies who attended an audition without bras, stating it was not Ezeonu’s place to condemn them.
Ngozi Ezeonu recently sparked controversy after she was filmed reprimanding two young women for their attire at an audition. In a viral video shared online on January 15, the actress, who was serving as one of the judges, expressed displeasure after noticing that the ladies were not wearing bras.
However, the actress’ actions quickly attracted attention, including a strong reaction from media personality Yeni Kuti. Appearing on the Your View show on TVC, Yeni Kuti voiced her opinion on the matter, stating that it was not Ezeonu’s place to publicly criticise the women.
“It wasn’t really any of her business,” Yeni remarked.
Yeni further expressed that it is inappropriate for older women to police younger women’s dressing.
“As old people, we forget what we did,” she said. “When we are criticising young people, I have forgotten what I did at 24, when my stomach was flat, and I had six packs. If I wear that now, they will call me ‘aunty, this your belly, are you not ashamed to be showing it about?’”
The incident has sparked widespread debate, with many commenting on society policing women’s dressing as women should not be judged or criticised based on how they choose to dress.
