A groundbreaking documentary spotlighting Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and its link to infertility will premiere at Silverbird Cinemas, Victoria Island, Lagos, on September 13, 2025.
Titled “Beyond D’ Symptoms,” LOK Natal Care produces the advocacy film in conjunction with Ayo Ekunz Visuals Production. Lok Natal Care founder Kauthar Opeyemi Lawal and Ayo Ekunz Visuals founder Damilare Bello will convene the event.
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is one of the leading causes of infertility, affecting millions of women Worldwide. Beyond fertility struggles, PCOS also triggers emotional, hormonal, and long-term health challenges that often go unaddressed.
The documentary, which brings together real-life journeys of women living with PCOS alongside expert insights from medical professionals, aims to educate and break the stigma surrounding women’s reproductive health.
The premiere is expected to draw an audience of medical professionals, policymakers, non-governmental organisations, influencers, students, and PCOS warriors.
In the weeks leading up to the premiere, a series of online webinars featuring health experts will address myths and facts about PCOS, reproductive health, and management strategies. There will also be opportunities for live audience engagement. Early screenings will also be held in schools and universities, accompanied by panel discussions with students and health professionals.
Following the premiere, the campaign will extend to university campuses and underserved communities with special screenings, free consultations by medical professionals, and the distribution of PCOS awareness kits supported by partner organisations.
By combining storytelling with advocacy, Beyond D’ Symptoms seeks to challenge stigma and inspire a new wave of awareness around PCOS and infertility in Nigeria.
