Black women in music shone brightly at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, held on February 1, 2026, in Los Angeles. Tyla, Doechii and Cynthia Erivo were among the night’s standout winners as artists from around the world gathered to celebrate the best albums and performances of the past year.

The GRAMMY Awards, held annually by The Recording Academy, are considered one of the most prestigious honours in the music industry. Since their inception in 1959, the GRAMMYs have celebrated excellence across 94 categories, recognising a diverse range of genres and styles. Artists who won at this year’s Grammys qualified with recordings released between August 31, 2024 and August 30, 2025.

Tyla took home the Best African Music Performance award for her hit “Push 2 Start,” beating strong contenders from Davido and Omah Lay, Burna Boy, and Ayra Starr with Wizkid. This victory is Tyla’s second in a row, following her inaugural Grammy win for Best African Music Performance with “Water,” which made her the youngest African artist to ever win a Grammy.

Ahead of the televised ceremony, Cynthia Erivo won the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance award with Ariana Grande for their duet “Defying Gravity” from the 2024 musical film Wicked: For Good. The duo was nominated alongside ROSÉ and Bruno Mars (“APT.”), SZA and Kendrick Lamar (“30 for 30”), KATSEYE (“Gabriela”), and HUNTR/X: EJAE, Audrey Nuna, REI AMI (“Golden”) for the KPop hit Demon Hunters.

Tampa native Doechii won Best Music Video for her single “Anxiety,” marking her second Grammy win after taking home Best Rap Album last year for her mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal. “Anxiety” had been nominated in five categories on Sunday, though Best Music Video was the only award it secured.
