Access Bank Appoints Ifeyinwa Osime as Board Chairperson
Summary: Access Bank Plc has appointed legal and corporate governance expert Ifeyinwa Osime as chairperson of its board following the retirement of Paul Usoro, SAN, after the completion of his regulatory tenure in January 2026.
Access Bank Plc has appointed Ms. Ifeyinwa Osime as Chairperson of its Board of Directors on February 2, 2026.
Ms. Osime, an accomplished legal practitioner with extensive experience in corporate governance and board leadership, joined the Board of Access Bank in November 2019 as an Independent Non-Executive Director.
Prior to her appointment, she served as Chairperson of the Board Human Resources and Sustainability Committee, as well as the Governance, Nomination and Remuneration Committee, where she played a key role in leadership development, sustainability and governance oversight.
Beyond Access Bank, Ms. Ifeyinwa has held several notable board positions, including Independent Non-Executive Director at Coronation Insurance Plc, Board Chairperson of Coronation Life Insurance Company Limited, and Non-Executive Director at Bank PHB (now Keystone Bank Limited).
She is currently a Director at Ebudo Trust Limited and a Partner at McPherson Legal Practitioners, where she advises on corporate and commercial legal matters and contributes to the firm’s strategic leadership.
Her professional career began at the Nigeria Reinsurance Corporation before she joined African Development Insurance Company Limited (now NSIA Insurance) as Company Secretary and Assistant General Manager, Administration and Legal.
Ifeyinwa is a graduate of Law from the University of Benin and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1987. She holds a Master of Laws degree in Commercial and Corporate Law from the London School of Economics and has completed executive education programmes at institutions including INSEAD, IMD, Harvard Business School, MIT, and Stanford.
She is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, Women Corporate Directors Nigeria Chapter, and the Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria, where she serves on the Executive Committee of the Women Sectoral Group. In addition to her professional work, Ms. Ifeyinwa Osime is actively involved in mentoring young people and supports initiatives focused on autism and developmental delays.
