Femicide: Nigerian Man, Malime Ejor, Murders 26-year-old Girlfriend in Cross River

Malime Ejor, a 35-year-old man, has attacked and killed his 26-year-old girlfriend, Moshie Igu, over alleged infidelity in Nwang Village, Ekajuk community, in the Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River State. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, March 28,  2026. 

According to community sources, Malime attacked the 26-year-old woman at a farm in Nwang Village, Ekajuk community, following a heated argument about an extramarital affairs accusation against Moshie. The argument escalated into violence, during which Malime allegedly attacked her, using a machete,  subsequently leading to her death.

“We could not do anything. We were able to hold him. Our youths caught him and later handed him over to security operatives,” one of the residents stated. 

According to the police, Malime was rescued from an angry mob that wanted to lynch him. He was remanded on Monday, March 30, 2026, and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Calabar for a more thorough investigation.
